The Treaty of Versailles in Germany
- German people didn't want the Treaty of Versailles to be signed but German politicians felt they had to sign it
- This then led to people not trusting the Weimar republic
- People wanted a change and that change was Adolf Hitler
- Hitler was able to consolidate power and turned Germany into a fascist country
- Although Hitler was an evil person, he did help Germany by helping to improve the economic situation going on which was one of the biggest issues
- With Hitler in charge, Germany began to gain their reputation back but the country became fascist and had a very evil dictator in Adolf Hitler
- The political effects of the Great Depression were different than the effects of the Treaty of Versailles in Germany
- They began with Herbert Hoover, the president at the time of the start of the Great Depression. Hoover took a conservative route to attempt to fix the economy but that didn't work
- Franklin Delano Roosevelt was then elected and his goal was to include more government intervention to help the people
- Roosevelt came up with a plan called the new deal to instill government programs to help people with their financial problems including the Civil Works Administration and Social Security
- People really liked what Roosevelt was doing and re-elected him four times although the United States became isolist during this time
- The Great Depression led to a change in how the government deals with nationwide issues and led to many new government agencies opening as well.
